These terms apply to your use of Best Chapter (bestchapter.co), run by Best Chapter (“we”, “us”). By using the site, creating an account, or buying anything, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What Best Chapter is

Best Chapter provides educational and lifestyle information, tools, and games for retirees and their caregivers. It is not legal, tax, financial, medical, or other professional advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship with us. Laws, benefits, and programs vary by place and change over time. For decisions that matter, talk to a qualified professional who knows your situation.

Your account

Some features need a free account. Give us accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account any time from your account page.

Memberships and billing

• Memberships are $10 per month or $60 per year (US dollars) and begin with a 7-day free trial.
• If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your payment method is charged the plan price, and then again at the start of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel. Memberships renew automatically.
• Payments are processed by PayPal (including debit and credit cards paid through PayPal). We never see or store your card number.
• You can cancel any time from your account page, or in your PayPal automatic payments settings. After you cancel you keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
• If we change a price, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
• Taxes are added where required.

One-time purchases

Some guides and digital products are sold for a single price with no subscription. You get access to what you bought through your account, for your own personal use. Access is for you only; please don't share your account or resell or republish what you bought.

Limited use without a membership

The scam checker can be used 3 times per calendar month without an account, and 5 times per month with an account. Members get unlimited checks. Visitors without an account are counted by the IP address they connect from, so the same person using a different device or network may get a separate allowance. Scam reporting, scam help guides, and browsing places to retire are open to everyone. We may add or change features over time, and which features are limited or paid may change going forward. We won't take away something you have already paid for without refunding the unused part.

AI-assisted features

Some tools (such as the scam checker, the lifestyle quiz, and the bucket list brainstorm) use artificial intelligence to generate results. AI can be wrong or incomplete. Treat results as a starting point, not a verdict: a “looks safe” result from the scam checker does not guarantee that a message is safe, and you should never send money or personal information based only on our tool's output. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break the law or use the site to harm, harass, or defraud anyone;
• try to break, overload, scrape at scale, or gain unauthorized access to the site or other people's data;
• submit content you don't have the right to share, or that contains other people's private information without permission;
• use the site to build a competing product by copying our content or tools.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you put into the site (for example, messages you check, bucket list items, and trusted contacts). You give us permission to store and process it as needed to run the features you use, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Our content

The articles, guides, checklists, tools, design, and software on the site belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial use, and print checklists for your own use. Please don't copy or redistribute them beyond that without our permission.

Third-party links

We link to other sites and services, and some links may earn us a commission. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them. Mentioning a service is not a guarantee of its quality.

Disclaimers

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to be accurate, but we don't promise the information is complete, current, or right for your situation, or that the site will always be available or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, savings, or data, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Ending your use

You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or misuses the site, and we will refund any unused prepaid time if we end a paid membership for reasons other than your breach.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll post it here and update the effective date above, and for paying members we'll notify you by email. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Florida, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
