- Requires you to pay for your own training, equipment, or a background check
- Asks you to receive funds in your bank account and forward them elsewhere
- Communication only through text or chat apps, never a company phone line
Stay safe
How to verify
- Research the company independently and confirm the job posting exists on their official careers page
- A legitimate employer will never ask you to pay them or move money on their behalf
Already sent money or shared a password?
Contact your bank using the number on the back of your card, or the official number on your statement — not any number from the suspicious message.
